Importing a Wallet

Already have a Kaspa wallet? Import it into Kasanova using your seed phrase.

What You'll Need

  • Your 12-word seed phrase from another Kaspa wallet

  • Kasanova installed on your device

  • 5 minutes of time

Compatible Wallets

Kasanova is compatible with any Kaspa wallet that uses standard HD wallet derivation:

  • KDX (Kaspa Desktop Experience)

  • Kaspa Web Wallet

  • Other Kaspa mobile wallets

  • Hardware wallets with Kaspa support (coming soon)

Step-by-Step Import

1. Launch Kasanova

Open the Kasanova app. On the welcome screen, tap Import Existing Wallet.

2. Enter Your Seed Phrase

You'll see 12 empty input fields.

Enter each word in order:

  • Type or paste each word from your seed phrase

  • Kasanova will auto-suggest valid BIP-39 words as you type

  • Ensure spelling is exact

  • Maintain correct word order (1 through 12)

Tips:

  • Words are case-insensitive (lowercase is fine)

  • Extra spaces are automatically trimmed

  • Only valid BIP-39 words are accepted

3. Verify and Continue

After entering all 12 words, tap Import Wallet.

Kasanova will:

  • Validate your seed phrase

  • Derive your HD wallet structure

  • Generate your addresses

  • Begin syncing your balance and transaction history

If you see an error:

  • Double-check each word's spelling

  • Verify word order matches your backup

  • Ensure you're using the correct seed phrase

4. Set Up Security

Enable Biometric Authentication

Kasanova will prompt you to enable biometrics:

  • iOS: Face ID or Touch ID

  • Android: Fingerprint or Face Unlock

This protects your wallet even if someone has physical access to your device.

Set a Wallet Name (Optional)

Give your wallet a friendly name:

  • Default: "Imported Wallet"

  • Custom: e.g., "Main Wallet," "Savings," etc.

5. Sync Wallet Data

Kasanova will now sync your wallet:

  • Addresses: Derives addresses from your seed phrase

  • Balance: Queries the Kaspa network for your current balance

  • Transaction History: Fetches your past transactions

This may take a moment, especially if you have many transactions.

6. Complete!

🎉 Your wallet is now imported!

You'll see:

  • Your current KAS balance

  • Recent transaction history

  • All KRC20 tokens

  • KNS domains

  • NFTs

After Importing

Verify Your Balance

Check that your balance matches what you expect:

  • Compare with your previous wallet

  • Check in Kaspa block explorers

  • Wait a moment if syncing is still in progress

Review Your Assets

Navigate through Kasanova to see:

  • KAS balance (main screen)

  • KRC20 tokens (Tokens tab)

  • KNS domains (KNS section)

  • NFTs (NFTs section)

Secure Your Wallet

Ensure security settings are configured:

  • Biometric auth: Enabled (highly recommended)

  • Session timeout: Set in Settings > Security

  • Seed phrase backup: Verify your physical backup is safe

Common Import Scenarios

Migrating from Another Wallet

From KDX (Kaspa Desktop):

  1. Export your seed phrase from KDX

  2. Import into Kasanova using the steps above

  3. Both wallets can coexist (same funds, different interfaces)

From Kaspa Web Wallet:

  1. Reveal your seed phrase in the web wallet

  2. Import into Kasanova

  3. Consider the web wallet for desktop use, Kasanova for mobile

Restoring After Device Loss

If you lost your device:

  1. Install Kasanova on your new device

  2. Import using your seed phrase

  3. All funds and assets will reappear

Important: The old device (if found) can still access funds until you transfer them to a new wallet.

Using Multiple Devices

You can import the same wallet on multiple devices:

  • Same seed phrase = same wallet

  • Transactions appear on all devices

  • Signing on one device affects all

Note: This is convenient but reduces security. Consider using separate wallets for different purposes.

Troubleshooting Import Issues

"Invalid seed phrase" Error

Possible causes:

  • Typo in one or more words

  • Words in wrong order

  • Using a seed phrase from a non-Kaspa wallet

Solutions:

  • Carefully re-enter each word

  • Check your written backup for clarity

  • Verify this is a Kaspa wallet seed phrase

Balance Shows Zero

If your balance doesn't appear:

  1. Wait: Syncing can take 30-60 seconds

  2. Check internet: Ensure stable connection

  3. Pull to refresh: Swipe down on main screen

  4. Verify seed phrase: Wrong phrase = different wallet (zero balance)

Missing Tokens or Domains

If KRC20 tokens or KNS domains are missing:

  1. Wait for full sync: Discovery takes a few moments

  2. Check explorer: Verify assets exist on-chain

  3. Refresh: Pull down to manually refresh

"Wallet already exists" Error

If you see this error:

  1. You may have already imported this wallet

  2. Go to Settings > Security > Show Addresses to verify

  3. Or choose "Create New Wallet" for a fresh wallet

Security Considerations

Keep Multiple Backups

After importing:

  • Verify your physical seed phrase backup is accessible

  • Consider a second backup in a different location

  • Never store digitally (no photos, cloud storage, etc.)

Deactivate Old Devices

If you're replacing devices:

  • Uninstall Kasanova from the old device

  • Or transfer funds to a new wallet with a new seed phrase

  • Remember: old devices with the seed phrase can still access funds

Monitor for Unexpected Activity

After import, regularly check:

  • Transaction history for unauthorized sends

  • Balance changes

  • New marketplace listings you didn't create

If you see suspicious activity, immediately transfer funds to a new wallet (new seed phrase).
